As global shipping sees increasingly volatile fuel prices, tightening emissions requirements, and continued uncertainty over the availability, scalability, and cost of alternative fuels, nuclear energy is emerging as a credible pathway for large ocean-going fleets seeking predictable operating costs and higher performance.
Beyond commercial shipping, advanced nuclear technology is also being developed for floating nuclear power plants, or ‘power ships’. These nearshore assets can deliver clean, reliable, relocatable electricity in coastal waters, helping to meet rising demand while strengthening energy security and grid resilience
During Posidonia 2026, CORE POWER will host an executive briefing for senior leaders across the maritime and energy sectors on the role of nuclear technologies in commercial shipping and nearshore energy generation. The session will explore how nuclear propulsion can enhance fleet competitiveness, reduce exposure to fuel price volatility, and support compliance with emissions targets.
It will also examine deployment models and regional opportunities for ‘power ships’ as a practical, scalable addition to coastal energy systems.
Due to high demand, this event is now sold out.
